Woman Sues Man Over Bad Date
What should one do after an unsuccessful date? Block them on Social Media? Delete all the dating appsĀ from your phone? Perhaps you should take them to court?
A Michigan woman chose to sue a man for $10,000 after their date went wrong.
QaShontae Short took Richard Jordan to court, alleging that he caused intentional infliction of emotional distress after their date went wrong.
After getting stood up by her date, QaShontae decided to take him to court to answer for his actions.
The recent court hearing over Zoom saw QaShontae Short yell at Judge Herman Marable Jr when he attempted to explain the definition of perjury to her.
Ms. Short, who appeared to join the zoom hearing from the airport, refused to answer the District judge’s questions, and repeatedly demanded that he did not ‘insult [her] intelligence’.
Frustrated by the judge’s response, QaShontae demanded that her case be brought to circuit court before repeatedly shouting: “Are we done here?”
In a viral video from the trial, Richard Jordan told the judge that he had been sued because of one bad date.
“To be honest with you sir, I thought this was just gonna be thrown out,” he said.
“We had a date, one date, and nothing else after that, and now I’m being sued for $10,000. I think this is a waste of your time.”
Ultimately, the judge ordered the case be moved to the circuit court.
“Plaintiff shall pay the filing fees in the receiving court and I don’t know if you asked for a jury trial or not, you did not, so there was no jury fee.
“No further proceedings shall be had after transfer until costs or expenses have been paid. If not paid within 56 days of the date of this order, this will be dismissed by the court to which it was transferred.”
So QaShontae may get a date, but it will be with another judge.
