Video Shows Texas Teen Mowing Down Disabled Man
A Texas teen was arrested Friday after mowing down a disabled man in a horrific hit-and-run incident.
The gruesome incident unfolded on Sept. 3 in an Austin parking lot, with officers responding to a call about a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle.
Video footage shows the man in an electric wheelchair crossing through a parking lot when he sees the driver racing toward him and desperately signals for him to stop.
Instead of stopping or swerving, driver Pablo Antonio Avila-Banagas, 17, plowed into the victim, dragging him several feet before fleeing as the victim lay motionless on the ground.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Avila-Banagas was charged with failure to stop and render aid, which is a third-degree felony; injury to a disabled person; unlawful carry of a firearm, and failure to identify in relation to this case, according to police.
