Orangutan Goes On The Attack At Local Zoo
A video of a man being attacked by an orangutan went viral Tuesday after a frightening display of strength from the caged critter.
The video shows the man about a foot or two away from the bars of the cage, and the orangutan takes the opportunity to effortlessly grab his shirt and drag him forward.
Even after help arrived, the orangutan grabbed the man’s leg and held him horizontally against the bars of his cage using his arms and a foot.
The man was reportedly unharmed following the encounter.Â
Various forms of apes and orangutans are known to be violent towards each other and humans. In 2016 two orangutans teamed up to kill another, Scientific American reported. Orangutans can lift up to around 226kg, around 500 pounds, which is almost three times their own body weight.
