Waterspout Tears Through Smith Island Leaving Path Of Destruction
Social media has been blowing up with wild footage of a waterspout that left a path of destruction in its wake Thursday on Smith Island, Maryland.
Videos shared on social media show the extensive destruction caused by the waterspout that tore through the island.
The video showed the spout as it hit land, sweeping up what appeared to be a boat with alarming ease, destroying homes, and sending debris flying in every direction.
Made up of three different towns: Rhodes Point, Tylertown, and Ewell, there are roughly 260 residents on Smith Island. “There’s one house that’s completely demolished, several others lost roofs, it ripped out the only two gas pumps on the island at our Exxon station,” Rhodes Point resident Tiffanie Woutila said, noting that boats were “thrown everywhere.”
