Pennsylvania Police Shoot Snake Wrapped Around Man’s Neck
Police in Pennsylvania fatally shot and killed a snake wrapped around a man’s neck.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the Upper Macungie Township Police Department responded to a call about an unidentified man in cardiac arrest with a snake coiled around his neck.
Police said when officers arrived at the residence, they found the 28-year-old victim lying on the floor and unresponsive with the snake still around his neck.
One of the officers was able to fatally shoot the snake without injuring the man.
Nickischer said the snake did not die right away.
“It wasn’t like it just died,” Lt. Nickischer said. “It started to slither away, luckily away from the officers, away from the direction that they were trying to pull this gentleman. They realized it was a matter of life and death with seconds to make that decision. Praise the officers. They did what they had to do. It was a safe shoot.”
“I think one of the officers described it as a scene from a horror movie, and that’s probably the most appropriate way to describe it,” said Nickischer.
Police said the snake loosened its grip, and they were able to pull the man to safety.
Officers attended to the man, who was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The snake died.
